It’s been said, that of all the professional sports team leagues, NFL football is perfectly made for television. And having been to a few games live, I’d have to agree. It just fits the TV format much better than hockey or baseball. Of course though, with broadcast TV you gotta have ads to pay for the telecasts and since the NFL is such a monolith business, raking in billions every year, they’re gonna pump out as many commercials as humanly possible. I totally understand that.

But, if I was home watching these games, I could always flip over to another program during the scads of car and beer ads or even do something else around the house. Unfortunately today I could’t watch it at home (part of having to watch expenses, couldn’t afford the NFL Ticket on my satellite this year) and had to sit here at D & B’s. And sit. And sit, etc……

For this consumer, sitting through all these ads didn’t prompt me to want to buy their product, on the contrary, all these ad nauseum commercials have done the reverse. I’m going to go out of my way not to buy them.

Well, if I could afford them, that is.
