Now I can’t state for sure that he had Neurofibromatosis-1, but the disfigured face and the tumors made me come to that conclusion. I not only felt bad for him as I left the Piggly Wiggly (BTW, by the reaction of the cashier as I paid for my milk, kind of like an acknowledgement, I’m guessing that he’s probably on this shift a lot and is used to that customer) I kept thinking about how difficult his life must be. As I wrote and drew these two comics from my memory of that “meeting” my thought was that back then, in the 1990’s, there wasn’t as much remote work as there is now and no door dash or the like that could have made his grocery acquisitions more conveniant, It wouldn’t have necessarily changed his life, but may have made it a bit more easier.
