For those of you who’ve never seen the animated show “Futurama” (and if you haven’t, why not? It’s great!) Lrrr is the bombastic villain who rules the planet Omicron Persei 8.

Lrrr is voiced by the voice actor Maurice LaMarche and every time Lrrr appears on the show he announces who he is. “I am Lrrr! Ruler of the planet Omicron Persei 8!” I’ve heard that so many times it’s burned into my brain. Now every time I hear someone on the news mention the Omicron Covid strain I can’t help but hear that voice in my head.
