Who would have thought, that when 22 year old me went to my local theater in November of 1983 and saw this little movie starring TV’s Kolchak and the mom from “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” would be come this beloved holiday phenomenon!

I remember really liking it (so much so that I sought out the books featuring the work of Jean Shepherd) but I know many didn’t share that same opinion at the time. I never could quite understand why it did so poorly in the box office.

Though I guess it’s massive popularity these days has sort of vindicated all of those involved in making it.
