It’s a bit unsettling, when you’re speaking with someone for the first time, trying to get to know them, that all they talk about is, well… suicide. Now, I can understand it, if she’d been working on this book, this project, for a long time. You can get totally enwrapped in your work and the research you’ve been doing that it’d be easy to have nothing but it on your mind. I’ve been there before. But, come on! You’re trying to meet someone, right? Can’t you divorce yourself from your project for a few minutes to get to know someone?

I didn’t tell her I had just lost my job. That’s probably another reason why I won’t pursue this. I can’t see myself trying to get involved with someone if I’m not earning a living.
