I’m not going to get into the whole Spacey/sex scandal here, I’m just going to confront the whole Spacey as Getty casting. I remember seeing a trailer for this film many months ago, before the whole scandal. When Spacey’s Getty appears at the end of the trailer, I immediately thought, oh man, that’s Spacey in some shitty old man make-up. I don’t know how Spacey’s performance was, but Plummer as Getty, without obvious “old man” make-up, is the much, much better choice here. They should have gone with Plummer from day one.
