Some of you may be thinking, “Hey, why don’t you get a job at McDonalds*. or Walmart, or some other retail establishment? At least until you get a Commercial Art job again?”

Well, here’s the problem with that, Those jobs barely pay or just pay minimum wage (and minimum wage is barely nothing). I have a monthly mortgage. Monthly bills and of course I’d have to pay the monthly premiums for any Health Insurance and if you’ve been reading these comics, you’ll remember that I had to pay the (OUTRAGEOUS) monthly fees for COBRA, until that ended. To add to everything, I would just have ONE paycheck coming into my home. In fact, for my entire adult life I’ve only had one paycheck coming home (unlike some people who are married and if they lose their job can get Health Insurance from their spouse’s work).

So, I bit the bullet and got Medicaid.

*- BTW, I’ve worked at McDonalds. From the age of 17 thru my Senior year of High School, and right before I started Art School, I worked at McDonalds.
