When I was a kid in the late 60’s and a kid and teen in the 70’s, the few times that there’d be a movie or TV show based on a comic book or comic book character, the most consistent reaction by those involved, actors, directors, producers, was derision. The talent would sound off, embarrassed by having to portray the adaption of those colorful characters. For those of us who read, collected and enjoyed the books and characters, when we’d hear their ridicule, well, it hampered our happiness when we’d watch the completed work.

As I mention in my review, thanks to the current crop of actors and actresses, Scarlet as Natasha Romanoff/The Black Widow, Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and even several years earlier Hugh Jackman as Logan/Wolverine they’ve not only embraced their characters but have taken creative control over their works production as well (Scarlett is an Executive Producer on this film). When this occurs, I believe, we can’t help but get quality work that will come across on both big and small screens.
