I’m a big fan of Elton John’s music. I have most of his albums and have seen him at least six times in concert, so I was looking forward to seeing this movie and I wasn’t disappointed. It was fun hearing all of the songs, especially the more obscure ones.

In the most recent Oscar Awards, Rami Malek won for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury in “Bohemian Rhapsody”, and while he was good, I think Taron’s work here as Elton blows Rami’s out of the water! When I heard that Taron was going to portray Elton in this film I began thinking about the 2017 film, “Kingsman The Golden Circle”. In it, Egerton had returned as the secret spy Eggsy, alongside, in a supporting role, Elton John as himself (as you can see in my comic review, Elton kicking ass). I wondered, was the decision for Egerton to star as Elton made while they filmed Kingsman? Working alongside him, did he learn to mimic Elton’s mannerisms?
