Daily Comic Journal: November 21, 2021: “Didn’t They Used To Be Open 24/7?”
Why can’t this Denny’s hire a staff so they could stay open past 4:00 PM? Eat’ N Park can. Bob Evans can.
Ironically the Denny’s chain of restaurants that opened in 1953, was always open, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Until Christmas Day, 1988. They broke their tradition and (after installing locks on their doors, because since they never closed they didn’t need them) closed on that holiday. Now, after a Covid pandemic, which had closed many businesses or caused many to shorten their hours of operation, with the vaccinations allowing life (as we know it) to slowly recover, they can’t stay open past 4:00 PM?
Perhaps they don’t pay their employees well enough to make anyone want to work late hours there?
That’s how I see it. East ‘N Park is somewhat local, having restaurants throughout Western PA, Eastern Ohio and I also think in West Virginia. Maybe because they’re not a HUGE national chain like Denny’s they consider paying their employees more. (and yes, I realize that Bob Evans is also a national chain but they’re not nearly as large as Denny’s)
