So, why did I pay the ticket and go see this movie?

  1. I was curious to see what Tim Burton would do with this film. Most of all the “Burton Touches” are here. It looks great and I must say, the “live action” Dumbo, especially during the sad scenes, can bring tears.
  2. For the life of me, I don’t recall if I’ve EVER seen the original animated film. I obviously wasn’t born yet to see it’s original release in 1941. Like most of all of the classic Disney animated films it was often re-released in the theater. The film was re-released in theaters in 1949, 1959, 1972, and 1976. I still wasn’t born yet for the ’49 and ’59 releases. Now I was around in ’72 & ’76, but I was 11 and 15 yers old, respectively. There’s a chance I could have seen it when I was 11, but 15? Probably not.
