During my research while working on this comic, I saw that Ed had 412 credits as an actor! His earliest from 1957 (lots of TV like “Kraft Theater”, “Naked City”, etc…) and his last in the 2020’s.

He was nominated for numerous awards and won 7 Emmys. He won the Emmy 5 times playing Lou Grant. Uniquely, he won it playing Lou 3 times on the sitcom, The Mary Tyler Moore Show” but then won it 2 more times playing the same character on the drama “Lou Grant”. He also won for his work on the mini series “Roots” and “Rich Man, Poor Man”.

Along with his prolific and memorable roles in front of the camera between 1981 and 1985 he served twice as President of the Screen Actors Guild.

A life and a career well lived.
