I don’t know exactly what happened, that weekend in February of 2001, but my biggest problem with this company wasn’t specifically that they almost went out of business (after I moved with everything I owned from Kansas City to Philadelphia, found a tiny apartment and put my house on KC on the market), no. It’s that they threw so much money around, getting me to interview for them and pitch the job to me (and yes, the owner wouldn’t shut up about his being a Wharton Grad). Not only that, the Art Director I worked for was buying outrageously priced furniture and stuff for the department. Though, she was let go that January.

The poor allotment of money and all the promises they gave me, that I’d be in charge with acquiring new licenses and dealing with the licensors was quickly quashed when he found out how much he’d have to pay for the Harry Potter license (they’d acquired HP before I got there). The only good thing about this whole experience was that I was out of Kansas City and Philadelphia was only about a 4 hour drive home to visit my family and friends in Pittsburgh.

BTW, I think Computer Expressions went out of business, some time in the 2000’s.
