The funny thing is, most people say that they never fit in when they were in school, that when they grew up, grew older, that’s when they began to feel as if they were accepted. While it’s true, I never fit in when I was in school too,  nothing really has changed for me some 40 years later. Having never been married or had a family of my own, having never worked at a “regular” (non creative) job much like everyone else, when it comes time to talking about things in common, there’s not much there. Luckily, I have a handful of friends who are in a similar situation, so at least I can carry on conversations with them.
