Daily Comic Journal: July 11, 2019: An Average Of 600 Movies Are Released Every Year.”
Actually, 600 may be a very conservative total. I got that statistic from the years 2010-2016. I believe the total these days is probably more like 700. Unfortunately, unless you live in New York City or the Los Angeles area, the chance of seeing many, and I do mean MANY, of the movies are slim and none. Even when I lived in the Philadelphia area, a pretty large city, it didn’t run nearly as many small or independent films that they could (or should).
I know I’m very, very rare here. I know the majority of people in the country don’t give a damn about seeing interesting films, movies giving voice to unique creative directors and producers. They’d rather just see the big budget blockbusters and avoid the rest. Yeah, I know that.
But I’m still gonna bitch about it.
In my case it’s because I actually haven’t been much of a movie fan in years. I’ve actually preferred YouTube for at least a decade now because I can find stuff I’m actually into. 90s country music, various video games, and Lego reviews (just to name a few things) aren’t exactly movie theater content.
Haven’t even been into t.v. in a while either. Had to drop it almost 4 years ago due to budget reasons and the only thing I miss is Guys grocery games which I keep forgetting to see if it’s on YouTube. I know competition shows are so fake and scripted but GGG is so weird and my version of “trash tv”.
Just started using Pluto tv recently. Rediscovered my love of CSI NY and there’s even a whole channel for Minecraft videos. And I’m finding all sorts of other goodies.
