While watching “Body Heat” every time a character mentioned how hot it was or started sweating, I became more and more aware of just how much my bare legs were freezing. I realize that theaters need to pump in air conditioning (In fact, that was a big selling point in the 1950’s for theaters, when television began to encroach on their audiences. Come into the theater and see a movie and you’ll keep cool from the summer heat) and maybe if I was watching “Ice Station Zebra” or “John Carpenter’s The Thing” the chilled air would have added to my movie experience. But when you’re watching a film where one of the main characters is the hot and humid weather and your bare legs are shivering, it kind of takes something away from the overall experience.
