Daily Comic Journal: April 3, 2021: “I Don’t Quite Fit Into The Throw Away Society.”
Yes, it’s true. I hang onto things for a very long time. I kept my first car for 8 years (only got a new one because I was hit by another car and it was totaled). I kept my second car for 17 years (only to get a new one because I was hit by another car and it was totaled). Plus many other items that I’ve owned thru the years. I use ’em until that can’t be used anymore.
Another reason though, why I’ll hang into this TV set until it’s no longer usable, is that my dad bought it for me. I had just moved into my house in Audubon, in 2001, and didn’t have a set for my family room/studio. My parents were in town visiting and we drove to the nearby K-Mart and he bought me this set.
That K’Mart is gone.
I’ve moved away from my Audubon house.
My father has passed away.
But this TV still works. So I’m sticking with it.
Touching story; thanks for sharing. I have my dad’s WWII army dress overcoat, and it’s in nearly perfect condition. It’s too heavy to wear except on the very coldest days, so I use it probably a couple days a year at most. It’s still one of my most cherished possessions.
