The pay system for the Graphic Designers at Siemens is a bit complicated. If I wanted overtime to finish a project, I need to first request it from the Product Manager of that specific project. If they sign off on it, then I can get paid for the overtime. Requesting for it though isn’t all that easy. The Product Manager has a budget that they’ve had approved for by their customer. Because we have SOOOO many projects backlogged (because we’ve never had enough Designers to handle the workload) Already late projects like this one, had their budget approved so long ago that they’d be reluctant to approve the payment of any overtime.

This is a long winded way of saying, yes, I got the project to them when they needed it, but no, I won’t get paid for any of the extra hours it took me to complete it.

But, unfortunately, sometimes these are the things you have to do when you’re a professional.
