Daily Comic Journal: August 8, 2017: “You Don’t Talk About This To Anyone, Ever.”
When I came up with the idea for this comic I wanted to make sure I was as accurate as possible with the Tiger image Detroit used during the late 1960’s. Fortunately I found this:
Being not-yet-a-teenager, I remember the Tigers of ’68 very well – last 30-game winning pitcher… probably ever. However, also being a year younger in 1967, I didn’t have much interest in current events, so I don’t remember the civil rights atrocities of the era. I probably should see the movie just from a historical-learning opportunity.
Being a 6 year old kid from the Pittsburgh area I was totally unaware with current events in 1967 and never knew of the riots either. As a historical reminder, this film is very good (especially for those not aware of what happened) and Oscar winning director Kathryn Bigelow has a great track record. Unfortunately, taking this as strictly an audience member, the tense scenes in the motel drags on so long that, for me at least, it loses it’s intended impact.
