Much has been said about actress Laurie Metcalf’s fine work in this film, especially since many only know her as a TV star, most notably on “Rosanne” (where she won three Supporting Actress Emmys) and as Sheldon Cooper’s mom* on “The Big Bang Theory”. But I remember seeing her first, on the big screen, as annoying neighbor Marcie Dahlgren-Frost in the John Candy comedy, “Uncle Buck”.

I’d be surprised if anyone under 30 (or for that matter, under 40) will get the punchline in today’s comic. Of course, I’d be surprised if anyone under 30 actually reads my comics.

*- I’m probably not telling anyone anything new here, but, while Laurie plays Mary Cooper on TBBT her daughter, Zoe Perry, plays young Mary Cooper on the TBBT prequel, “Young Sheldon”.
