I tried my best to describe this film without giving away the plot twist. When I saw this film, all I knew was that it was about two people from two different cultural backgrounds and how difficult it was, especially for Kumail’s character, to make it work. I didn’t know more, so I was really able to enjoy the direction the story went.

I didn’t want to forget to mention the excellent cast here too. Aside from the leads, Kumail Nanjiani from the TV series “Silicon Valley” and Zoe Kazan as Emily,  who’s very good in the 2012 film “Ruby Sparks” (my comic review for this little seen gem can be read here.) Ray Romano & Holly Hunter turn in some nice work here as Emily’s parents.

The next time you hear someone complain that only superhero and action films can be found in the theaters during the summer months, just point them to this movie.
