When I draw these comics, sometimes the direction I come up with, how I plan to lay them out, pops into my head just before I start to pencil. In yesterday’s comic, the idea to put a huge tree in the foreground and to use the space between its’ limbs as panels, just came to me right before I started it. Sort of the same with today’s comic. I don’t know why, but an image of a refrigerator with magnets of words, that people will arrange to say something interesting, surrounded by Polaroid photos of family and friends was on my mind. So that’s why I arranged the panels and words the way I did. It really doesn’t have anything to do with the idea behind this comic, it was just something I wanted to try. Sometimes I get bored just drawing the same type of tiered panel layout.
