Daily Comic Journal: April 27, 2021: “They Aren’t Prepping Us To Be X-Men. They’re Prepping Us To Be Killers.”
In the late 1970’s early to mid 1980’s Marvel’s The Uncanny X-Men was one of the hottest comic books on the stands. The original concept of the X-Men was that of students with mutant powers learning how to live and control them, but by this time, when the comic was a best seller, the characters of the X-Men were older. They were now adults and the original concept just didn’t fit this particular team. So in 1983 Marvel created a new title called The New Mutants. The book focused on a group of five young teens with mutant powers and they looked like this:
