I use the word “stepford” in the comic because of the feel of the first half of the film. That odd, “something isn’t right here” mood that comes across in the 1975 film “The Stepford Wives”. (yeah, I know they made a 2004 remake, but the less said about that, the better)

“The Stepford Wives” was made in that era, from 1967 thru 1977, when Hollywood wasn’t afraid of making dark, eerie films that not only questioned our society and humanity but wasn’t afraid to tackle hard topics. (and they weren’t afraid of ending films on a less than happy note) This film starts of like that, with an intriguing premise but really cops out at the end.
